Toxic substances used in energy drinks.

Brominated vegetable oil contains bromide, and is widely used in the U.S.A to keep the flavour in sodas, citric and energy drinks.

It has been proved that produces health problems in the short term, such as muscle cramps, blurred vision, skin problems and vomit.

It has been associated to memory loss, psychological symptoms such as acute paranoia, arrhythmia and birth and development problems.

Where are bromide chemicals used?

Can be used in such industries as fumigation, flameproofing, water purification, medicine, sanitation and photography.

This chemical product is forbidden in food in all Europe and Japan, but in U.S.A is still used.

An article in Scientific American Journal says that videogame players, that drink huge amounts of Mountain Dew and other drinks with BVO, suffer more skin injuries, memory loss and nervous disorders.

Bromide is one of the possible causes on cáncer increase

Cancer is a disease that is increasing all around the world, mainly because of our lifestyle.
One of the problems that bromide produces is that displaces iodine. This leads to a deficiency in iodine, that increases the risk of breast, ovary and prostate cancer, as well as thyroid problems.

Bromide also accumulates in tissues, in the central nervous system or in breast milk.

Toxicity of bromide can produce:

  • Appetite loss and abdominal pain
  • Fatigue
  • Metal flavor
  • Arrythmias
  • Skin eruptions and acne

There is chemistry in all that we eat and drink. It reduces costs, speeds up production, strengthens flavors…

It is in our hands to be informed about the products we eat or drink. Because a product is made by a big brand doesn’t mean that is a healthy product.
