Tea against fluid retention

Fluid retention is a symptom associated to kidney and circulatory system problems, but it can also appear in people with a sedentary style of life, with some prescribed medication or stress. It can appear as general swelling or swelling in joints (usually legs and ankles). Despite being more visible in these places, this is a signal that other tissues are also accumulating fluids, so you should see the doctor.

To avoid fluid retention it is very important a balanced diet, physical activity and to be careful with the amount of salt in food. It is really important to correct these behaviors when the fluid retention is not very serious, because in severe cases it can produce serious kidney problems and other disorders.

There are natural remedies that can help us to get rid of this water excess we have in our bodies, between them some teas. Some easy to find medicinal plants that help us to eliminate water retention are:

Dandellion: it is one of the most important cleansing plant that exist. It helps us to eliminate our body toxins, as well as water. It also protects and cleans our kidneys and liver.

Horsetail: Is one of the most efficient remedy against fluid retention. In some cases it can increase the urine up to a 30%. It is also a cleansing plant and helps in kidney, prostate and bladder problems.

Green Tea: In addition to the properties of the green tea we talked before, in the weight reducing tea, it helps reduce the fluid retention.

Fennel: Is used for heavy digestions and stomach pain, and reduce the gas produced after meals. Among its properties, it is very good in eliminating fluids too.

Recipe

Put some water in a pot, a bit more than the cup of tea you are going to have, and turn on the fire. Then add half a teaspoon of fennel and let it boil for 4 to 5 minutes. Then we turn off the fire and we add half a teaspoon of dandelion (it is very bitter, and as we are going to use more herbs we can use just a bit), half a teaspoon of green tea (not at nights if you want to sleep) and a teaspoon of horsetail. Then we let it rest for 3 to 5 minutes and we pour it through a strainer. Then we try the bitternes and if it is very strong you can add a bit of honey. If you want to make a liter of this tea all you have to do is multiply the amounts of each herb by 4.

As we said in previous teas we can play with the ingredients. We can add a date or a dried fig to the boiling step (boiling with the fennel) to give a bit of color and taste to the tea. We can also use rosemary, thyme, etc.

We can even use these herbs separately, just as the shops sell them, adding boiling water to them and letting it rest the recommended time for each plant.

Enjoy it!
